Recently, Facebook revealed a new feature, similar to the application Venmo, which allows you to send money straight from your group chat. You can do that from your browser and Android application, while Apple users should wait a bit more until it is released.
Until now, Messenger had this feature only for single conversations, but it will be available in group chats as of now. This would allow money to be exchanged over group discussions amongst people, which adds a social element to your payment method.
To send money using Facebook, you have to link your debit card to the application. Then, you choose the friend you want and with single clicks, you can request or pay money.
Moreover, people in the group chat would be notified of the transaction, which can be a proof of payment amongst your friends.
Currently, the most used social payment app is Venmo, but the new Facebook features might threaten the position of the payment app as a leader on the market. What’s more, the messenger feature is free-to-use, your information is safe, and you don’t have additional passwords. The only thing you should type in is a unique PIN, so you don’t have to worry if your phone gets stolen.
If you haven’t received this update, please be patient as it will become available everywhere in the world soon.
